Pala Group Scholt Energy

Sustainable roadmap

Sales of electric cars are on the rise, so Pala Group is consuming more and more electricity. In addition, the production process of cars is becoming more and more sustainable, especially because consumers are more likely to choose a sustainable product. BMW Group is the world's most sustainable automotive company and the highest-ranking car manufacturer in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices. As a BMW and MINI dealer, Pala Group cannot afford to lag behind in the area of sustainability and is therefore actively seeking solutions to translate the energy transition into their own business.

In cooperation with Scholt Energy, the first step was to make its own energy consumption more sustainable. 100% Dutch wind energy is purchased for Pala Group's entire electricity consumption. For gas consumption, CO2 emissions are offset. This step is currently being rapidly followed by further sustainability measures. The plan is to install solar panels on six properties. With its own solar energy, Pala Group will reduce the amount of electricity taken from the grid, so that it will not be necessary to reinforce current connections. In addition, the option of storing this solar energy is being investigated.

Pala Group and Scholt Energy also want to equip the locations with charging stations (AC and DC) for electric cars. Together, various models and smart software are being examined in order to deploy the charging stations as optimally as possible. For example, to keep the cost price of the kilowatt hours (kWh) charged as low as possible.

BMW iX

On 13 November 2021, BMW Van Laarhoven in Eindhoven presented the new electric BMW iX. Partner Scholt Energy was present to provide business relations with more information about the energy transition. For new developments, the parties act jointly as sustainability specialists in the automotive sector.

Purchasing spread

Since 2019, Pala Group has been purchasing its energy through Scholt Energy. Scholt purchases the energy from different energy markets AND at different times, thus enabling Pala Group to spread the risk and save on costs. In total, Scholt Energy supplies energy to some 12 Pala Group locations.

Scholt not only helps us with the procurement strategy, but also with the energy transition and innovation. We regularly discuss which developments affect gas and electricity prices."
