Through the agreement, the existing solar park on the roofs of VGP Park Nijmegen will supply power to 20 VGP offices in 13 European countries. The solar park at VGP Park Nijmegen currently has a combined power output of almost 4,400 megawatt hours in total, of which 2,100 megawatt hours are currently used by local tenants. From the remaining output, approximately 450 megawatt hours are allocated to VGP offices in Europe and the rest are offered for sale to Dutch companies and households.
"We are constantly looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact and strive to make a net positive impact. We are therefore very pleased to announce this partnership with Scholt Energy and to add new European solar capacity through additional photovoltaic projects on the roofs of VGP Parks. We are committed to making our own 100% renewable electricity, generated on rooftops at VGP Parks, available to our tenants where feasible and hope that we can all support this positive change."
All VGP offices will switch as of 1 January 2022 and the VGP offices in countries where Scholt Energy is already active will also switch to new renewable energy contracts at the next contractual opportunity. Until then, ACT Commodities will provide VGP with local Guarantees of Origin for its electricity consumption.
