What is green electricity?
Renewables generate electricity, or green electricity. Renewables that will be the most familiar are wind and solar, but there are others – hydropower, geothermal and biomass. Grey electricity is produced using exhaustible fossil fuels, like gas and coal, which are harmful to the environment.
Whether you’re a buyer or a producer, switching to green electricity helps to encourage the generation of renewable energy. Green electricity gives businesses a more sustainable image and helps them to achieve their sustainability goals more readily. What’s more, businesses may also be able to take advantage of government subsidy schemes. Producers of green electricity can also sell the electricity that they generate to buyers, or trade the electricity on the market to give them a revenue model.
Scholt Energy offers a number of green electricity products, giving you options to match your consumption, production and/or sustainability goals.

“We have robust sustainable ambitions and view this first CPPA deal with Klimaatfonds Nederland and Scholt Energy as a long-term investment. The organisation hopes to sign multiple CPPAs in the near future, in order to increase the portion of sustainable electricity that it purchases and take joint steps to further the energy transition.”
